launch

So, the plan was that the printers delivered the copies of City Baby tomorrow, and we shipped out all the pre-orders of our newest publication on Friday afternoon. Yesterday they rang to say there’s been a delay, and we won’t get the books till next Wednesday (16th). We’ll be hitting the ground running as soon as they do, posting out orders from the US, Canada, Australia, Sweden, Finland, Germany, and the Netherlands as well as the UK. For twenty-four hours, Ignite Villas is going to be a whirlwind of bubble wrap and padded envelopes, and the bloke at the local post office is going to be sick of the sight of us.
To celebrate the publication of Ross Lomas’ autobiography, we’ve set a Birmingham launch date for City Baby. We’ll be in the Adam & Eve pub in Digbeth, on Friday 2nd August. You’ll find us sitting in the corner next to a huge pile of books and a very nervous author. It’s going to be a great night, because we’re launching Ross’ book at a gig. What could be more apt, for a book about the life of the bass player in GBH, than to send it out into the world with two live punk bands? Thanks from us to the very generous Maid Of Ace, and support Blest Mess, who’ve allowed us to piggyback their show.
If you can’t make that date – and we hope you can – we’ll also be at Rebellion Festival, Blackpool, on Friday 9th August. You’ll find us in the Spanish Hall, which is given over to the literature stage in the afternoon. At some point (details when we have them) Ross will be there, chatting with John Robb about the book, his life, and being on the road with GBH. Don’t miss it!
There’s a facebook event page for the Birmingham launch here and the Rebellion Festival website is here. We hope to see you at one or both of these. If you’re unlucky enough not to live in Birmingham, and can’t make it to Blackpool either, then you can get your hands on a copy of City Baby here on the Ignite website, by going to this page.
And please, tell your friends.
Now, we’re off to play with bubble wrap.
