Yesterday evening a man in a van delivered the copies of City Baby to Ignite Villas. They look absolutely mint! Better than we could ever have dared to hope, from the strikingly bold cover right through all 320 pages*. We’ve published some very good books over the last few years, and this one keeps the standard as high as ever. Given that the printers we normally use had gone into administration, and we had to scout around for a new one for City Baby, that’s a huge relief.
I’d love to say that we spent last night gazing lovingly at the stack of copies and taking pride in what we’ve done. But we didn’t. We spent it in a whirl of bubble wrap, tape, and padded envelopes, making sure that each and every pre-order of the book is ready to go in the post this morning. Maybe we’ll get a chance to sit down at some point this afternoon and revel in our creation. I hope so. After all, as Ross put it when he saw it – and he sounded slightly stunned – “It’s a proper book!”
