One of the challenges for any author is getting yourself and your book in front of an audience you hope – you know – will want to spend their hard-earned cash on the literary gem you’ve crafted. Authors signed up with one of the big beasts in the publishing world have the prospect of a well-connected team behind them. Authors signed up with small, independent publishers know they’re going to have to work that little bit harder to get the same results.
Which explains why we were delighted that our author Glyn Brown was a guest at two literature festivals last month. In early February she was at Wolverhampton Literature Festival (our local) talking about her incredible memoir Dancing Barefoot, and a couple of weeks after that she was once again treading the boards in Faversham, Kent, another literature festival with a well-deserved reputation for excellence.
The photos below show how well-attended that event was. What they can’t show is just how entertaining a speaker Glyn is. Here’s what she said in a recent tweet about the event… “asked about the wild events in the book I said, ‘When men live adventurous lives, people call them boho but when women do, they’re apparently out of control. Well, that’s just shit.’ Loud and hearty cheers…” Literature festivals, take note. And book Glyn. You won’t regret it.
