Ye gods. It’s been a while since we popped in here to write a blog [runs finger along very dusty mantelpiece, makes note to come back with the hoover] but here we are. Is it too late to say ‘Happy New Year’? It is? OK. In that case, let’s go with the blessings of British Summer Time being plentiful and your long light evenings filled with joy. You’d be forgiven for thinking the radio silence from Ignite Villas meant we’d sloped off to lie on a tropical beach somewhere, or spent the winter slumped on the sofa stuffing our face with crisps [mumbles something about that not being the whole winter, thank you very much] but we’ve been busy. We’ve been busy coming to terms with the impact of Brexit on our ability to send books to Europe [spoiler alert: it’s a disaster] busy absorbing the increase in costs of postage and printing [sigh] and busy wondering how the cost of living crisis is going to affect small businesses like ourselves [answer: it certainly won’t help, but how can it when some folk are struggling to even put food on the table?]
These are, without a doubt, challenging times – we think that’s the traditional euphemism for when your country’s being run by a bunch of self-serving crooks whose only strategy is to whip up hatred and division – and they’re no less challenging for small presses. See previous paragraph for details. We are determined to keep doing what we do, however, and continue publishing top-quality writing by authors whose work has blown our socks off and who we feel deserve the opportunity to do the same with your footwear too. Over the next couple of weeks, keep an eye on social media for news of our latest book, which we think is an absolute belter that you’re going to love just as much as we do.
Now, where’s that hoover?
